A sliver of you

Hair is everywhere
such a personal thing

it can tell about your history
convict you of a crime

make a stranger's hand want to reach for it
babies twirl it about their finger's while breastfeeding

you can change the color, but not really
it always returns

the smell is memorable
the twist of it, recognizable

if you find a strand on your pillow it can take you back
or leave you baffled

books and poems have been written,
In Sombrero Fallout.. a single strand was his undoing
